Our People

UWCSEA Scholarships: Uniting People, Nations, and Cultures

UWCSEA Scholarships offer a UWC education to young people who otherwise might not have the opportunity to attend the College. With your support for the scholarship programme, we can enrich the learning experience for all students, while providing to scholars the values-driven, collaborative education that sets UWC apart. Together, we can help our scholars reach their true potential while empowering the future leaders and changemakers the world needs.

Our scholars come from a wide range of backgrounds and often experience challenging life circumstances. Several young scholars each year are internally displaced people, forced to flee their homes in the months or years prior to joining the College, resulting in disruption to their educational journeys.

For a scholar, as for all our students, a UWCSEA educational experience opens doors to  growth and possibility—academically, personally, professionally and socially. For the College, the scholars bring a wealth of experience, expertise and perspectives that support the learning and growth of the whole community.

The time a scholar spends at UWCSEA can open many doors and as scholars approach graduation they work with our exceptional UWCSEA university advisors to explore post-UWCSEA pathways. For some students this may include a gap year to give back to their communities, for others this may be a route straight to College or University.

A unique feature of the Scholarship Programme is that all recipients of a UWCSEA Scholarship are eligible for higher education scholarships to a wide range of US universities through the Shelby Davis Scholarship Programme. This programme seeks to amplify support for the UWCSEA Scholarship Programme and provide pathways to continued success.

Financial Relief Programme

The College mission calls upon its members to support each other with empathy and to be considerate, including when any member is faced with particularly challenging personal circumstances. The UWCSEA Financial Relief Programme is intended to offer temporary financial relief to families in our community who have a sudden and unexpected change in circumstances. The College commits funds to the  programme and any member of the community can apply confidentially. By donating to the Financial Relief Programme you will be helping to provide continuity of education to students whose families are in difficulty—not solving long-term financial challenges, but providing much-needed kindness and support in difficult times.

A closer look

You can't come to UWC and leave as the same person.

Phunziro Phuza '21, Scholar from Malawi

For a scholar, a UWC education opens the doors to an entirely different future. Our community gains so much from the contributions and energy, ideas and perspectives made by this remarkable group of young people who join us each year from around the world.

I hope by showing my commitment to the UWC Values and the impact of giving back, that I have inspired my peers to do the same.
