Parents’ Association Dover: Term 1 in Review
Term 1 saw the Parents’ Association (PA) at UWCSEA Dover bring families together through a series of events focused on wellbeing, connection, culture, and sustainability. From informal coffee mornings to hands-on workshops and shared meals, these initiatives reflected the PA’s ongoing commitment to supporting both parents and students across the school community.
Supporting Wellbeing and Connection
The PA Mental Health & Wellbeing Team launched their year with a coffee morning that welcomed parents into a relaxed space to meet one another, connect with the Dover Counselling Team, and learn more about upcoming wellbeing initiatives.

Later in the term, the team hosted their first workshop of the year focused on peri/menopause, with 40 women coming together for a morning of learning, discussion, and shared experiences. The session highlighted the importance of open conversations and community support around health and wellbeing.
A huge thank you to our inspiring and knowledgeable speakers, Grace, Kiki, Sundus and Jieun for their insights and openness.

Building Community Through Shared Experiences

Community connection continued through the PA Activities Walk, which took parents from Gardens by the Bay to Robertson Quay. With scenic views and informal conversations along the way, the walk offered a simple but meaningful opportunity to connect outside the school setting.

Celebrating Culture and Supporting Students
One of the term’s highlights was the Cooking with Boarders session, where Barbara from the Italian Nationality Group organised an Italian feast for Grade 12 students in the Boarding House. Supported by parent volunteers and their children, the evening provided students with a welcome break from their studies and a reminder of the wider community supporting them during a demanding year.

Learning Together for a Sustainable Future
The PA Sustainability Team also hosted a Biodiversity Collage workshop led by Rajul Priya, one of the team’s founders. Families explored ecosystems, species diversity, and the challenges facing biodiversity due to human activity and climate change, combining learning with creative expression.

These events represent just a small snapshot of the many activities and initiatives the Parents’ Association has supported throughout Term 1. Behind the scenes, numerous parent-led groups, volunteers, and representatives have been contributing time, energy, and ideas to support students, families, and the wider Dover community in many other ways.
Looking Ahead
As Term 1 comes to a close, the Parents’ Association extends its thanks to the many parent volunteers, speakers, and participants who made these events possible. With more activities, workshops, and opportunities to connect planned for the year ahead, the PA looks forward to continuing its work in strengthening community life at UWCSEA Dover.
Parents are encouraged to stay connected through Classlist and the PA section of eBrief to keep up to date with upcoming events.
