Surinder Kathpalia

Denise WAN

Surinder serves as non-executive director on the boards of several organisations, including many in the not-for-profit sector. He is also involved in several start-ups in Singapore and India as co-founder, advisor or mentor.

Surinder was until December 2014 Managing Director and Head of ASEAN & South Asia at Standard & Poor’s, having co-founded its Singapore office in October 1996. Prior to that he worked as an investment banker with HSBC in London and Mumbai, and with Ernst & Young in London and Singapore.

Surinder is a UK Chartered Accountant, a FCA of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Singapore and holds a Masters degree in Management (Sloan Fellow) from the London Business School.

Surinder is married to Sujata who teaches at NTU. They have lived in Singapore since 1983; their two sons are alumni of UWCSEA having graduated in 2006 and 2011 respectively.
