Rebecca Butterworth joined UWCSEA in January 2018 after five and half years in Zurich, Switzerland. Rebecca holds a Masters of International Education from Australia and has 15 years experience in international schools.
After completely a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Literature, and teaching literature at the University of Queensland as a postgraduate student, Rebecca embarked on a degree in Education. She has never looked back; her passion is challenging young people to become autonomous, self-directed, compassionate and well-balanced individuals who utilise their talents to have a positive impact on others.
Rebecca is committed to ensuring High School education goes beyond preparing students for university and final examinations, knowing that schools need to focus on the emotional health of young people and their capacity to be agile and flexible in an increasingly complex world. In her work on CIS accreditation teams, Rebecca is keen to support schools in maintaining a holistic focus.
Rebecca is joined in Singapore by her husband and their eight year old son who was born in Beijing and is excited about being closer to China and his Australian family. A great weekend morning for Rebecca and her family is chilling out over a leisurely breakfast with good books in hand and a great view of the Singapore cityscape.
