Nick is originally from Derbyshire in central England, he moved to live in France for a number of years, before returning to work in the southwest of England. Nick considers himself fortunate to have worked in diverse areas such in outdoor pursuits, managing educational school tour centres in Europe, working with young people in the care system and most recently as Deputy Head Pastoral and Head of Boarding in a specialist dyslexia school in Gloucestershire. Nick graduated later in life from the Open University with a Diploma in Social Work and a BSc in child developmental and group psychology.
The common theme in his career has always been the holistic development of young people with a particular interest in education outside of the classroom environment. He was attracted to UWC by the shared belief that young people can be supported to achieve and make significant contributions to their communities regardless of their backgrounds.
Nick is married to Veena and together they have two children Alexander (Xan) a trainee physiotherapist and Maya who is a student at the school. Outside of school boarding life, he enjoys time with the family, travelling, hiking in remote places and anything involving food, books and new cultural experiences.
