Jensen joined UWCSEA East in 2012 and was Head of Grade 11/12 for six years prior to his appointment as High School Vice Principal and IB Coordinator at UWCSEA Dover in August 2019. Previously he was the founding Head of Science at St Joseph's Institution International. Prior to Singapore he taught science and biology in Australia at Geelong Grammar School and Scotch College in Victoria.
Jensen has taught the IB Diploma Programme in three different schools and has worked for the IBO as both a workshop leader and an examiner. Jensen is a passionate biologist, who is constantly amazed at the living world and brings this passion to his classroom. Before teaching, he spent several years as a researcher in the area of developmental neurobiology, publishing several scientific papers. He holds a PhD in the field from The University of Melbourne.
Jensen led UWCSEA East's first Council of International Schools (CIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation process. He has been part of several CIS/WASC evaluation teams including serving as Co-Chair of these teams. This experience allows him to learn from other schools while taking the opportunity to reflect on the important pillars of school structure and what is needed to constantly focus on improved student learning.
Jensen and his family enjoy travelling the world and learning about new cultures and different communities. His other passion is endurance sports; he has completed several Ironman triathlons, marathons and half marathons.
