An Introduction to PACE
Parents’ Action for Community and Education (PACE) is a volunteer parent-led organisation that falls under the Service umbrella of the College, with many active members, and over 1500 supporters and friends who subscribe to our mailing list.
PACE serves the UWCSEA community, across both campuses, via activities and events that provide both a social network and the opportunity to contribute.
PACE also strives to reflect UWCSEA's values by supporting those in need, and building community at the school. Each year we organise lectures, classes, social outings, tours and other events. These events – as well as other fundraisers - assist the three areas in which PACE focuses it efforts.
PACE Scholarships helps to fund the education of over 120 children, from impoverished backgrounds, ranging from elementary to college level students in the Philippines. This achieved through a scholar-sponsor matching programme.
PACE Schools rebuilds schools in poor and remote areas in Cambodia and recently Myanmar, which included a library with mostly Burmese books. To date, close to 5000 children have benefited from the schools programme.
PACE Local Outreach organises volunteers to the HCA Day Care Hopsice in Singapore twice a month following the school calendar. During these visits, volunteers provide various forms of entertainment for the patients, including activities, performances and outings.
PACE Fundraising Activities
PACE Activities offers classes throughout the school year that cover a wide range of areas and interests including sports and fitness, language classes, health and nutrition, cooking classes, tours and other personal development programmes. By joining any of these activities or classes part or all of your class fee contribution is donated to our charities.
Our aim is to offer a variety of interesting classes and programmes that include you in our fundraising efforts and help to support the building of friendships and community spirit throughout the entire UWCSEA community.
PACE Special Events such as our annual Deepavali and Eid Celebration, PACE Used Book Fairs at the community days of both campuses, and a bi-annual gala event are also key fundraising opportunities to support PACE programmes.
PACE also raises funds to support our programmes by providing a range of attractive and useful PACE branded merchandise for sale through the College shops at both campuses. All proceeds from sales help support PACE charities.
Parents are encouraged to attend our PACE Welcome Coffee Morning which is traditionally held in September each year to learn about our upcoming events and how to get involved. PACE will be present at the orientation days on both campuses before the beginning of Term 1, so please do stop by and say hi!
Look out for our classes, activities and special events in the SEALINKS section of the eBrief and eFlyer, and subscribe to our monthly PACE Newsletter to ensure you are kept informed: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The PACE Committee is always looking for more volunteers to help us with our work.
