The UWC mission calls us to build a more equitable and inclusive society, to be innovative and bold and to ensure that our impact extends beyond our immediate community.
Re-establishing our legacy as true innovators in education, and in line with the aspiration of our mission, during our year-long 50th anniversary programme we plan to release a series of six white papers which focus on sharing what we have learned in key areas of focus for the College over the last 50 years:
- in peace education
- in sustainability
- in outdoor education
- in service learning
- in mission competencies
- in how we equip students for their futures and the world of work
While we have come a long way, there is much more to do before we can say that our education is a model and a means by which our community will create more peaceful and sustainable futures for all. Our vision for the next 50 years compels us to honour the past, by using our learning to help build a better future for the generations to come, in partnership with those with whom we share common values and purpose.
Our first White Paper describes the College’s approach to building capacity in peacebuilding for students aged 4 to 18: EDUCATING FOR PEACE: UWCSEA’s mission for future peacebuilders.
