Timelines for UWCSEA's August 2020 admissions cycle

CSS MenuMaker

Our annual application cycle means that our communications timelines are slightly different to that of other schools. Below we've outlined the key dates when you will hear from us after submitting an application, based on the key dates in our annual recruitment cycle.

Families are very welcome to contact your Admissions Officer with any questions regarding your application at any time.

When can you expect to hear from us?

Regardless of when you submit your application, you can expect to hear from us at the following points in our admission cycle:

Within 7-10 days of submitting your application: acknowledgement of your application from your admissions officer

Within a month of submitting your application:

  • confirmation of meeting or not meeting our Entrance Criteria
  • if required, Invitation for additional assessment (although the actual assessment may take place later)

For those who meet our Entrance Criteria the communications timelines are then:

K1-Grade 8 day student applications

Grade 9, 10 and 11 applications and all boarding applications

November offer round: if you submit your application by Monday, 4 November, you will hear whether or not you are being offered a place in this round in the last week of November.

If you are not offered in this round, you will be informed and will remain in consideration for the following offer round.

Within a month of submitting your application: Invitation to attend an Immersion Day in Singapore or interview/assessment on one of our Outreach Visits

While High School and Boarding places are offered from March onward, we recommend applying earlier, as all eligible High School applicants are required to attend an Immersion Day as part of the application process. These are held during our outreach visits in some overseas locations from November. In Singapore they are scheduled from January until the end of March and include interactive activities with current UWCSEA students, assessments and an interview.

The earlier you apply, the greater the flexibility we can offer in scheduling a mutually suitable date; past experience indicates that we are are not usually able to offer alternative dates to applicants after mid-February because we rely on our High School students' availability to help run the sessions and we cannot schedule Immersion Days that overlap with key periods in the academic programme.

February offer round: if you submit your application by Monday, 3 February, you will hear whether or not you are being offered a place in this round in the last week of February.

If you are not offered a place in this round, we may invite you to ‘opt-in’ to remain under consideration for any remaining places that may open up for August entry or for a place that may open up for January entry.

December: a small number of early High School offers to applicants assessed on the November and December Outreach Visits

Boarding students: recommend applying no later than Monday, 3 February

Day students: recommend applying no later than Monday, 9 March

March and April offers: if you attended an Immersion Day, you will hear whether or not you are being offered a place during these two months.

If you are not offered a place, we may invite you to ‘opt-in’ to remain under consideration for a late leaver place for August entry.

March-July offers: if you submit your application after the deadline for the February offer round, or if we are unable to offer you a place in our February round, you can be considered for any remaining places that may open up between March and the start of the school year in August.

At this stage, place availability is highly unpredictable and dependent on the number and timing of leavers from our current community.

May-July offers: if you submit your application after the deadline for the March-April offer round, or if we are unable to offer you a place in our March-April round, you can be considered for any remaining places that may open up between May and the start of the school year in August.

At this stage, place availability is highly unpredictable and dependent on the number and timing of leavers from our current community.
