At UWCSEA East Campus, R U OK? Day is a reminder to check in with one another and spark conversations about mental health. This global movement is dedicated to breaking the silence around hidden struggles. Aarav shares his journey with Mind Mirths, a project that’s all about building a compassionate community committed to lifting each other up and providing greater accessibility to mental health support.

Whether it's remotely-operated underwater submersibles, miniature aerodynamic F1 cars and solar-powered drones—Grade 12 student, Lucian ‘25, is no stranger to bringing innovation to life. In the IDEAS Hub, one of UWCSEA’s innovative spaces supported by #UWCSEAGiving, Lucian puts his theories to the test, finding opportunities for creativity, critical thinking and construction, and gearing up for competitions.

Students on East Campus are sending lunar satellites into space with NASA! While reading the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) newsletter, Grade 8 student, Aarav, came across something that caught his eye—GLEE. He jumped at the chance to bring the Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone (GLEE) to UWCSEA because it offered a chance to be part of something truly innovative and groundbreaking. GLEE is a worldwide programme for High School and College students, in partnership with NASA’s Artemis mission, which involves students coding and designing a lunar satellite that will later be sent straight to the Moon.

Grade 11 student Anika has always been interested in coding and programming because of its problem-solving elements. When she first joined the innovation club in Grade 9, she had the opportunity to participate in the Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC)  where she was part of a team that made a water purification device using UV-C light to be used in developing countries. This sparked an interest in the innovation field and since then, Anika has continued to look out for more opportunities in this space. She has subsequently joined both First Robotics Club (FRC) and NASA's Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone (GLEE).

UWCSEA Dover’s Grade 11 and 12 students, Vedant and Aman, recently collaborated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) under the guidance of our IDEAS Hub to create an elderly marketplace for skills and jobs called S-Lab, and that includes a project called GrowLah which allows the elderly to set up and maintain gardening products that the team sells including hydroponic systems. 

Ground control to Commander Aki! On Saturday, 30 October, a select group of students from UWCSEA Dover and East Campus had an out-of-this-world opportunity to connect with alumnus astronaut Akihiko Hoshide '87 through a secured video link call from the International Space Station.
