Learning support

In Primary School, there is one Learning Support teacher per grade, although the teachers may also work across the school-section. 

Using a variety of programmes and service delivery models, we provide targeted interventions to students who have been identified as needing additional support to meet expectations. In addition, we offer support to students with a range of mild to moderate diagnosed learning differences, including: specific learning disorders (of reading, writing, and math), executive function difficulties, ADHD, processing disorders, etc.

The Learning Support provision in Middle School provides learning support coaching and small group support where teachers work to remediate specific academic challenges and support/develop students' study skills. 

Learning Support teachers help students develop an understanding of themselves as learners, while supporting their organisation skills. Students develop a repertoire of strategies to help them build on their strengths to address areas of challenge.

Difficulties in mathematics are supported directly by the Mathematics Department. 

In High School, the focus of the Learning Support teachers is on helping students develop the habits and self-management skills needed to succeed in our academic programme. 

The Personal and Social Education programme teaches study skills to all students. The Learning Support Department offers small group and individual coaching for study skills and organisational habits for students identified through our internal review processes or via external evaluation.

In addition, the High School Learning Support Department coordinates with students who may be eligible for exam access arrangements on their external exams or assessments. This involves advising on accommodations, recommending or completing relevant assessments, gathering evidence, and submitting applications for review by the examination boards.
