Transport and Bus Services (Dover)

Sarah BEGUM

Action Required: If your child will travel to school by bus, please see the table below with the relevant information about routes, times and associated fees, as well as the bus booking form.

Please note that bus applications will take two weeks to process from the time of submission.

Bus

An external transport company (YEAP) manages the school buses, facilitated by UWCSEA’s Transport Manager. All buses are air-conditioned with seat belts and each bus has a ‘Bus Aunty’ (monitor) to look after the children while in transit.

The buses serve most areas of Singapore but it is important to check with personnel in the Transport Office when signing up for a service what the likely pick-up and drop-off times will be. The Bus Services Handbook contains more information about bus services, bus rules and areas of Singapore covered by school transport. Registration can be done online.

Bus forms and information

Afternoon bus departure times (approximate) from Dover Campus:

Bus Type Infant School Junior, Middle and
High School
Regular Bus 2.05pm 3.15pm
Post-Activities Bus 3.15pm
(shares the Regular Bus for JS, MS and HS)

Primary School

Infant students must be met off the bus by a parent/guardian/helper, or they will be returned to the College to be collected at the parent’s expense

Junior students are dropped at their designated drop-off point even if nobody is waiting to meet them. It is essential that the students are clear about what to do when they are dropped off.

Middle and High School

Students who have an after-school activity that ends at 4.20pm, can take the Activity bus home which leaves at 4.35pm. If an activity ends later than 4:35pm, students will nee dot make their own arrangements to get home.

All parents please note:

  • Students are not allowed to travel on another bus for any reason. If children are meeting after school, they need to be picked up by car.
  • The bus service will pick up and drop off only to one address; logistical requirements are such that there can be no provision to have a regular drop off at a different address.
  • Due to insurance regulations parents are not allowed to travel on the school bus.
  • Students can apply for a one-way or two-way service, however preference is given to two-way applications.

Private Cars

All parents please note:

  • For safety reasons, we ask that parents use the designated drop-off and pick-up areas.
  • Please do not park in the drop-off / pick-up areas. If you need to park and come onto campus by foot you can do so in the campus car park.
  • When dropping off in the mornings, please try and move as far forward as possible within the designated drop-off zone to ensure a flow of traffic. We ask that parents remain inside their car in the drop-off / pick-up zones. Our experienced security guards are on duty to help the flow of traffic.

Ensure that you ask the driver to take you to UWCSEA Dover. As we have two campuses, it is important that you ask for the correct campus.

Dover Campus address: UWCSEA Dover Campus located at 1207 Dover Rd, Singapore 139654

Bicycle

There are secure bicycle racks available under cover. Cyclists must wear a safety helmet and obey all road rules.

If your Middle or High School child would like to cycle to school, please inform the class teacher. If your Junior School student would like to cycle please discuss with your class teacher first. Younger students should be accompanied by an adult.

Walking and public transport

There are a number of public buses that drop off near the entrance to the school driveway. Students in Junior School and above are permitted to leave the campus at the end of the school day without an accompanying adult and therefore are able to use public transport. There are a number of online route planners to help you plan your trip from home to school.

All Infant School students must be accompanied by an adult to their classroom or left in the drop-off area. We cannot meet children at public transport drop-off points or at any of the other entrances to the school.

Changes to travel arrangements

If there are any changes to your child’s regular transport arrangements at any time, please email your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

We cannot accept ‘word of mouth’ messages from your child. We require email, phone or in-person confirmation from parents if there are changes to travel arrangements.

Please note that emails sent to the class teacher during the day may not be read immediately so for emergencies and last minute changes of travel arrangements, call your respective School Offices and do not rely on email to communicate last minute changes.
