Dear Parents,

The start of the 2021/2022 school year is fast approaching us. This milestone is traditionally a time of excitement and anticipation with new students, new families and new staff joining our community. Returning students will move up a grade and some will move into a new school section. All of us are beginning an exciting new chapter. 

This year is particularly special as it is our 50th Anniversary year and we will be celebrating the journey of UWCSEA in Singapore and the many people and stories that have shaped the College. We have an exciting programme planned and much has been done to prepare our campuses for the celebration. I look forward to sharing more information with you about our 50th plans on the first day of school when we will officially launch. 

Like the last, this summer break has been a challenging one for many of us. Most have been unable to travel and reconnect with family and friends abroad. In spite of the challenges and no doubt disappointments, I hope that you have been able to find the time to relax, recharge, and connect with loved ones here in Singapore. Those of our community who were able to travel, we welcome you home. To those in our community who are relocating, we welcome you to Singapore and hope you settle in quickly. 

School will open as planned on Monday, 16 August and we will be writing in the coming days with details of operational requirements for the start of the school year, as well as remote learning provisions for students who are unfortunately still outside of Singapore. Each of us is ready to play our part in making the return to school happy, safe and successful for our students.

I would like to finish with a huge thank you to all our staff who worked throughout the summer. Our teams running the Holiday Activities programme, who have managed the ever-changing safety requirements in order to provide our students with meaningful connections. Thank you to our administrative and support staff for their invaluable dedication and hard work in preparing for this new year. And thank you to our facilities staff who have tirelessly worked on upgrades to the campuses as well as dressing these for our 50th Anniversary celebrations.  

As we head into the beginning of the school year, we know there are still challenges ahead but I am confident that this year will be one of positivity, excitement and celebration and that our community will continue to thrive, bound together by our shared values and care for our students.
