German Language and Culture Programme
Dover Campus
German has been offered in UWCSEA's secondary school for a number of years, and is a key reason that many German-speaking expats have chosen the Dover Campus. First (mother tongue/native) language German lessons are available as part of the academic learning programme from Grade 7, based on the Swiss curriculum.
All students from K1–Grade 12 are also able to sign-up for our after-school Home Languages Programme.
Grades: 7–12
In Grades 7 and 8 German is taught as a first language for native speakers according to the Swiss curriculum, enabling students from the Swiss School in Singapore to continue their education in German language. Other native speakers are welcome to join this class, but will need to sit an assessment prior to being placed in the course.
In Grades 9 and 10, students are placed in a first language course developed by UWCSEA to prepare native speakers of German for the IB Diploma. This course is offered subject to demand.
In Grade 11 and 12 students can opt for either the Language A – German Language and Literature course, or the Language B – German course. These courses are offered subject to demand.
