Welcome to Tampines House!
Who are we?
We are a part of the greater UWC movement - a global education network of schools and colleges that strive to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. We are a deliberately diverse community with young people from many different social and cultural backgrounds in which all members of our community are encouraged to embrace challenge and take responsibility for shaping a better world.
On this site you can find information about many different aspects of our boarding community - who we are, what we do, what we believe and how we operate. The Tampines House Boarding Manifesto (see below) forms the foundation of our residential life philosophy and informs all our norms, guidelines and decisions, while the Tampines House Guide (see below) contains the most up-to-date information about how things work in our boarding community.
Tampines House Boarding Manifesto
The Tampines House Boarding Manifesto is based on the core values of the UWC Movement and forms the foundation of our residential life philosophy. The Manifesto guides our norms, values and expectations and aims to help us to develop and grow as a diverse and caring residential community.
In Tampines House, we:
participate fully in this community, even when it may be a personal challenge to join in all aspects of life here
actively contribute to the community, leading by example and recognising that our actions play a vital role in the lives of the people around us
try and understand one another’s cultural beliefs and norms, valuing our diverse ways of thinking and acting, even when they challenge us
celebrate our differences, recognising their validity and value in making us a stronger community
empathise with and actively care about every member of the our community, acting to make one another’s daily lives easier
respect one another and try and live together with mutual responsibility and consideration, putting the community’s needs before our own
respect the space we live in, living conscientiously and sustainably to preserve it for future community members
take responsibility for our actions and act with integrity in even the smallest acts
aspire to live the values of the UWC Mission: a community of different people, nations and cultures striving for peace and a sustainable future
