The annual high school ACSIS swimming championship took place on 12 November on home turf. As usual it was fun meet filled with lots of amazing swims from both the boys and girls. ACSIS was a chance for us to compete in the midst of a hard training period. Feeling tired and sore, the Dragons team brought their competitive spirit and positive attitude and proved again that they are one of the best swim teams.
All swimmers who competed did very well, however, their are a few exceptional swims that must me mentioned. 14-year old breaststroker Gus swam some speedy times: his 50br split in the 200 medley relay was 34s, and for his individual 100br he swam a 1:14.88. Another exceptional personal best (PB) and swim was done by Cedric who took 5.50 seconds off his 100 fly time by going a 1:07.24. There were many more exceptional swims, and everyone who swam did an amazing job and should be extremely proud.
After an intense morning of racing, the hard work paid off as the Dragons team retained all first place positions for the boy and girls teams and overall team. A nice long recovery nap was well deserved by the Dragons swim team after a successful morning of racing.
With another hard week of training to come and the Merlion Sprint Meet, the Dragons swimmers are mentally preparing themselves for the weeks to come.
