Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka ‘04: Driving Sierra Leone’s agricultural transformation

As Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Henry has been a driving force in transforming agriculture, boosting local food production, and creating jobs in Sierra Leone.

Elisha Beston ‘14: Brings Beautiful Oops! The Musical to Life

This September, Elisha, Artistic Director of Freddo Children’s Theatre, is bringing the award-winning Beautiful Oops! The Musical to Singapore’s theatre.

Based on Barney Saltzberg’s best-selling children’s book, the vibrant production celebrates thinking outside the box, being brave, and embracing creativity—values at the heart of a UWC education. Designed for children aged 5–10, it’s a joyful experience for the whole family

Since we last featured Elisha, Freddo Children’s Theatre has officially become a registered non-profit, pledging to donate 10% of tickets to families who might not otherwise have access to theatre. For this show, they are partnering with Children’s Wishing Well, West Coast Community, and Gateway to make that promise a reality.

At a recent live pitch event showcasing 10 of Kenya’s most innovative startups, BuuPass took the top spot, earning the chance to compete in the Startup World Cup grand finale in San Francisco. With a US$1 million investment prize on the line, this milestone marks Kenya’s first-ever participation in the prestigious global competition.

Co-founder Wyclife describes BuuPass as a B2B2C digital marketplace for mobility, enabling users to search, compare, and book travel tickets seamlessly online.
