On Friday and Saturday our the Dover Phoenix Cross Country team competed in the SEASAC Cross Country Championship against 12 different schools from around the region. Early Friday morning was the individual race around the trails and waterways of Coney Island in Northern Singapore. Grade 9 student, Isabella Ghersi returned to win the individual girls race for the 3rd time in the last four years. She recorded a time just over 19 mins for 5km nearly a minute ahead of the second place runner. Alexandra Fisher came fourth overall in her 6th and final SEASAC Cross Country competition.
In the boys race Rang Shah began conservatively in the first forest loop before challenging for the lead along the twisting trails. Despite a sprint finish Rang could not quite get ahead for win but ran just over 17 minutes to secure 2nd place. Overall both teams were 2nd team school based on points
On Saturday the teams returned to Bedok Reservoir for a fun and very fast relay competition. The boys team run strongly to finish in 3rd place overall with the boys B team only a couple of places behind, led by a strong run from Teddy Lee. Despite an injury, the girls team finished in 2nd place behind UWCSEA East.
Overall both the boys and girls team finished in 2nd place overall to end a very successful Cross Country season.
