Grade 12 Student develops App to help reduce food waste
Urvi Guglani, a Grade 12 student at UWCSEA Dover, has developed an app which helps consumers keep track of food expiry dates. With over 800,000 tonnes of food wasted in Singapore each year, the ExpiSave app has the potential to radically reduce the amount of food unnecessarily thrown into landfills.
This app is the second successful technology development for Urvi, whose first app helps patients in Delhi book appointment slots with doctors at the Saksham Hospital, and has reduced waiting times for patients by 80%. Together with a fellow student from UWCSEA, Mahindra Poona, they have founded their own technology development company, Technicality.
Urvi was featured in the March 2016 Women's Special edition of India SE magazine.
ExpiSave is available in the iTunes App store and coming soon to the Google Play store.
