Dragons mixed relay finish Fina Swimming World Cup 2017 as top club/school programme

Over the weekend of 18-19 November, seven UWCSEA East Dragons swimmers rolled into OCBC Aquatic Centre along with some of the best in the world to compete in the Singapore leg of the Fina/airweave Swimming World Cup 2017 (full results).

This is a meet that we have attended before and one that we knew was going to be of high quality and at times a steep learning curve. However the Dragons came to the fight with some exceptional swims, many of which were new personal best times. There was some quick swimming throughout the weekend as well as some incredible opportunities such as swimming alongside current world record holders.

The mixed 4x50m freestyle relay stole the show on the morning of 18 November when we saw Liam, Lachy, Alle and Georgina take off to claim 10th position overall. They finished as the top club/school programme with only national teams ranking higher.

This meet is known to be a goal amongst many other Dragons and hopefully we will be able to turn up with more force in another year. Congratulations to Georgina, Alle, Enya, Jeremy, Liam and Celia for also qualifying this year.
