Dragons fly high at SEASAC Gymnastics Championships
The UWCSEA East Sports Halls were abuzz with excitement this past weekend as we hosted the L3 – 6 Boys and Level 5 – 8 Girls 2016 SEASAC Gymnastics Championships 2016 on 19 and 20 March. One hundred twenty-five gymnasts from nine schools across Southeast Asia competed over the two-day meet with all gymnasts competing on Day 1 in the team event and on Day 2 in the apparatus and individual all-around.
As we bid farewell to the teams we were able to look back and reflect on a fantastic two days of friendship, competition and achievement. Eyes were weary and bodies ached but the performances and efforts displayed by teams from all nine schools demonstrated the true spirit of SEASAC. It was clear that all gymnasts had been training extremely hard for this event with some putting in 18 hours per week to perfect their routines.
Personal best scores and medals had been won and lost but more importantly 125 gymnasts from across Asia have come together and made new friendships.
Under the guidance of our East coaches all of our teams competed with fantastic effort, determination and skill level. The standard of gymnastics at the competition was extremely high especially for the first time hosting this high level competition at SEASAC.
