On Saturday, 13 May, Singapore American School (SAS) hosted the Middle School ACSIS Athletics Meet 2017. This was the conclusion to another busy season of weekly training and development across the track and field events. With an eager and dedicated group of athletes training under the instruction and coaching of Ms DeKloe it was a difficult task selecting the squad for this blue ribbon meet.
Thirty students represented UWCSEA East from our Grade 6 to Grade 8 students. Although training was only for a limited period of time our team proved that we had strength and depth in both the field and track events. Sixteen schools participated in the competition where athletes could compete in a maximum of three events throughout the day.
On a hot and humid day we proved to demonstrate exceptional effort and resilience with fantastic personal best times, distances and heights broken.
Our female track athletes were our stand out performances winning both the 4X100m with the 12U and third place for the 14U Girls.
Our exceptional 12U track runner, Tanisha Patil, competed in the 1500m, 400m and 800m winning all of the races by a clear 50m.
