In 1962, Kurt Hahn founded the first UWC in the UK with a powerful mission to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Nine years later in 1971, Lee Kuan Yew opened our College in Singapore, the second of what is now a network of 18 schools and colleges across the globe.
Connected through our theme There is More in Us, we have planned a year-long celebration of our mission, launching a series of community-centred events with Reunion 2021 in August. It promises to be both an exciting year of celebration and an opportunity to recommit to our vision of what a better world can be.
Many exciting elements will come together in the 2021/2022 school year involving students, staff, parents, alumni and our global community of partners. We will also be connecting more deeply with Singapore, as the place which made us, and in April 2022 look forward to convening the UWCSEA Forum themed Learning to Shape the Future as the capstone event for our anniversary year.
Documenting our 50-year journey, a coffee-table style book titled 50 Years United: The Story of UWCSEA in Singapore will be launched during Founders Week in December 2021. Pre-orders now open - global shipping available.
