Overview of Entry Criteria

UWCSEA seeks to build a diverse student community by welcoming applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences—including bilingual, multilingual, and learners with mild learning difficulties—who are committed to our mission and vision.

We believe that learning, interaction, and growth across the five elements of our programme are deeply enriched when students engage with peers who bring diverse perspectives and life experiences to campus.

Type of Applicants

We typically receive two to three applications for every place available. About 15% of offers are made to applicants requiring English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, and 2–3% to those needing Learning Support.

This represents 15–20% of applicants identified as needing additional support.

While we offer English language and learning support to students who require it, specific capacity varies by grade depending on the needs of the current cohort.

Our Application Process

All applicants who meet our entry criteria are placed into a campus- and grade-specific application pool for the upcoming academic year.

If the number of eligible applicants exceeds available places, a variety of holistic profile factors are carefully evaluated to allocate individual places during the application cycle. These factors depend upon the section of the school and grade that your child is applying to join.

Above all, our allocation policy is driven by our mission, which directly informs our commitment to diversity and variety of experience. Please continue to the next section: How We Make A Decision for more details.
