Round Square
Dover Campus is a Global member of Round Square, a worldwide association of over 85 schools. Students attending Round Square schools share a commitment beyond academic excellence, to personal development and responsibility. UWCSEA is part of the Australasian and East Asia region and East Campus is currently a Regional member of Round Square.
Kurt Hahn was instrumental in establishing the Round Square organisation and the UWC movement, and they therefore share the same fundamental philosophy encapsulated in the Round Square acronym IDEALS: International understanding, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Kurt Hahn believed that schools should have a greater purpose beyond preparing students for college and university. He believed that it was crucial for young people to prepare for life by having them face it directly and experience it in ways that would demand courage, generosity, imagination, principle and resolution. Round Square is an organisation embodying this educational revolution.
Our membership of Round Square affords students in Middle and High School the opportunity to interact with others who share similar values and aspirations. The educational value of this interaction is enormous, whether it is through international or regional conferences, student exchanges, joint service projects or expeditions, or a gap year experience in a Round Square school.
UWCSEA Dover was the first UWC to be invited to become a Round Square school. It provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an association of schools spread over the world from Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.
