Our Big Ideas
Like all learning organisations, we are a community of thinkers. Our leaders and staff are fully engaged with the world of ideas, and regularly partner with external individuals and organisations to extend knowledge and expertise and explore the possibilities presented by our changing global context. With such a large and experienced staff, and a mission that requires continual reflection and reimagining, the College is uniquely placed to connect concepts, test theories and put ideas into action.
The first UWC (Atlantic in Wales), along with International School of Geneva in Switzerland and the United Nations School in New York, developed the IB Diploma, which at the time was an innovative educational response to the geo-politics of post-Second World War world. This began a tradition of innovation and questioning of the status quo that has seen the UWC Movement and UWCSEA push the boundaries of what an international education can, and should, be. Our educators are driven by a commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for all our students, while responding to innovations in the world of education, new possibilities opened up by technology, the evolving needs and demands of the world of work and the responsibility we all have to prepare our young people to be change-makers and problem-solvers.
