Information Technology
The College places a heavy emphasis on the use of modern of information technology (IT) systems to support teaching and learning, communications and its more general business operations. The Director of IT oversees all aspects of IT use in the College, including a team of six full time IT technicians. There are eight IT teaching staff employed in various schools of the College.
The IT infrastructure in the College consists of a comprehensive network covering both campuses with over 60 servers and over 10 terabytes of production storage supporting 1,600 Windows based desktops and laptops. The desktops and laptops are replaced every four years. The College runs a number of systems on this network including a comprehensive management information system for student details, timetabling,
reporting and assessment and attendance. There is also an eLearning platform, a library system, the College website and eCommunity portal and a variety of web 2.0 tools for teaching and learning.
For printing there is a centralised print management system running over 50 multi-function A3/A4 printer/scanner/copiers. All networked computers have access to the Internet, via the Colleges 40Mbps leased line connection. Much of both campuses have wireless access to the network.
