Welcome to the UWCSEA East High School
UWCSEA is proud to offer an academically challenging and personally enriching education to students in Grades 9 to 12. The East Campus welcomed its first cohort of students to the High School in August 2011, and the first graduating class will finish Grade 12 in June 2014.
Five elements in a UWCSEA education
There are five elements within our UWCSEA Learning Programme: Academics, Activities, Outdoor Education, Personal and Social Education and Service. These elements are not discrete; overlap is intentional as the experience for students is designed as a carefully woven series of experiences that allows for challenge, learning, reflection, and growth. The five elements are described on the relevant pages in the College Life section of the website in more detail.
Curriculum offerings
The East Campus offers High School students a curriculum that provides a challenging and robust programme of study. The curriculum stream a student joins depends on the age at which they join the College. The College offers a broad and balanced basis from which students can make informed subject selections going into their final years at school:
- Students commencing in Grade 9 will be enrolled in the Cambridge IGCSE programme. This two-year programme culminates in examinations at the end of Grade 10.
- For those students who commence in Grade 10, the College has developed a robust IB preparation course, called the Foundation IB (FIB) programme. It is designed to equip students with a firm foundation of knowledge and skills from which to commence the IB Diploma Programme. The one-year course culimates in internal examinations.
- For those students joining the College in Grade 11, the two-year IB Diploma is offered. Click here for details on the subject offerings for the IB Diploma.
