Infant School
The Primary School provides a
learning environment in which all the children can be happy, contented
and safe. They are motivated and able to flourish and achieve their
full potential as well as feel a sense of fulfillment. The aim is to
give all the children the confidence and enthusiasm to become life-long
learners with an appreciation of, and respect for others.
In the
Infant School the principal, the head of grade and the class teacher
care for the children. Class teachers are sensitive to the needs of the
children in their classes and seek to ensure that they are able to
benefit fully from every aspect of school life.
Parents are
encouraged to play an important role in the education of their children
and to work in a close partner-ship with the teachers. Parental help
both in the classroom and on trips within Singapore is fully
appreciated, particularly with the youngest students.
Special days
Every
day is a ‘special day' in the Infants School at UWCSEA. However, during
the year we have some extra special days, when students have the
opportunity to take part in curriculum related activities, or
celebratory occasions, that are presented in a stimulating, interactive
learning environment. Some of the special days during last academic
year were....
Book Character Dress Up Day
During Book Week all the students and teachers in the Infant School dressed up as their favourite book character. | | End of Term Party To celebrate the end of the first term the Infants had a day of games, laughter and delicious food. | | Chinese New Year Dress To
celebrate Chinese New Year the Infant children dressed up in Chinese
clothes or traditional colours and enjoyed a lion dance performance. |

Morning of Sport All Infant students took part in races and activities to show their parents the skills they had learnt in P.E. | | K2 Trip to the SPCA As part of their Unit of Inquiry about animals the K2 students visited the SPCA to learn about their responsibility to animals. | | K1 Trip to the Botanical Garden As part of their Unit of Inquiry about growth the K1 students visited the Botanic Gardens to learn about plants. |

Grade 1 Body Morning As
part of their Unit of Inquiry about "The Body" the G1 students moved
around the classrooms which had been transformed into different zones,
The Lung Zone, The Brain Zone, The Heart Zone, The Skin Zone and The
Intestine Zone. Each zone had exciting learning experiences to teach
the students about the body. | | Grade 1 Sleepover To
celebrate the end of their time in the Infant School, and to encourage
the Grade 1 students to be independent risk-takers, they slept the
night at school in their classroom with their teachers. | | |
This
is just a small selection of the extra activities and experiential
learning that we provide on top of the normal everyday learning
experiences in the classrooms.
