This year, the Junior Art Exhibition was all made out of paper from around the school campus or donated by the community. We discovered so many ways that paper can be used to make artwork. Using various types of paper and techniques, the children worked imaginatively to produce class, group and individual artwork. We rolled, folded, collaged, shredded and pasted paper to make different forms of art. Every part of the school made a contribution from Administration to Music. Archie the elephant was a popular exhibit and Grade 2 MBh were delighted with the finished shape covered in Archie comics. Paper lends itself to being very sculptural and it was exciting to see how a daily newspaper can be transformed into 3D work that looks different from every angle. Toilet rolls were made into flowers, newspaper into trees, magazines into bowls and cups.
We hope that we inspired you to be resourceful and imaginative with paper and perhaps even try one of the techniques from the exhibition.
