Boarding

Boarders learn how to live, work and play together, sharing experiences with people of their own age from many different countries and cultural backgrounds. We seek to provide a caring 'home away from home' for boarders, where they can enjoy happy and fulfilling lives as part of an international boarding community which has the feel of a large family.
Life in the boarding community is enriched by UWC National Committee scholars who are resident in the boarding houses. The UWC scholars contribute much to the rich and culturally diverse life in UWCSEA's international boarding family.
UWCSEA encourages and supports boarders in developing their leadership skills and showing individual initiative. The busy life of boarding provides many opportunities for students to contribute to house life. Boarders are encouraged to join house committees to represent boarders' views, and actively work together to support social, charitable and sporting initiatives and events.
Such is the richness of the experience, and the strength of the friendships formed, that our boarders frequently gain friends for life from all round the world.
Both campuses offer boarding for students in Grade 8 and above:
UWCSEA Dover has a flourishing boarding community of nearly 200 young people, which provides boarders with a friendly, enjoyable and rewarding residential experience based on UWC values.
UWCSEA East currently has around 70 boarders and will expand to welcome 120 students in the boardng house by 2015.
